MYA was proud to once again be part of the action at the Iowa State Fair, with a crew of current and former MYA employees volunteering their time to help with the Iowa Grocery Industry Association’s annual Best Bagger Contest.
Held Friday, August 14, the competition brought some of the best grocery baggers from across Iowa together to put their skills to the test in front of State Fair attendees.
During the competition, each contestant was tasked with bagging an identical grocery order consisting of approximately 35 commonly purchased items into three reusable grocery bags. Contestants were evaluated on several factors, including speed, proper item arrangement and weight distribution among the bags.
This year’s top finishers were:
- Kyle Bitterman – Hy-Vee, Davenport
- Daven Peterson – Fareway, Boone
- River Tygret-Ross – Hy-Vee, Ankeny Prairie Trail
- Jackson Wolf – Fareway, Clear Lake
Congratulations to Kyle and all of this year’s competitors!
For MYA, participating in events like the Best Bagger Contest is another opportunity to support Iowa’s grocery industry and the retailers and individuals who help keep it moving every day. We appreciate the current and former MYA team members who volunteered to help make this year’s competition a success.
With more than one million visitors each year, the Iowa State Fair remains one of the state’s most celebrated traditions, and MYA is always excited to be part of events that showcase the people and organizations that make Iowa’s grocery industry strong.
Congratulations again to all of the 2026 Best Bagger competitors, and thank you to the MYA crew who helped make the event possible!
